Responsibility
- Prepare ingredients and assist with food preparation according to cafe recipes and quality standards.
- Ensure the kitchen workspace is maintained in a clean, sanitized, and organized manner throughout the shift.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations, including proper handling and storage of ingredients.
- Assist in the plating and presentation of dishes to ensure consistency and quality.
- Support the head cook and other kitchen team members during busy peak hours.
- Manage stock levels and notify the manager when supplies or ingredients are running low.
- Clean cooking equipment, utensils, and dishes efficiently to maintain operational flow.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Kitchen Assistant, Cook, or in a similar food preparation role.
- Strong understanding of kitchen health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- A positive, proactive attitude and a strong willingness to learn new culinary techniques.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a diverse team.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays as required by the cafe.
- Physical stamina to handle long hours on your feet in a kitchen setting.
