Responsibility
- Develop and enforce cybersecurity policies, procedures, and best practices tailored to environmental monitoring systems.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and remediate security gaps.
- Monitor and analyze network traffic and system logs for suspicious activities, ensuring real-time threat detection.
- Implement encryption, firewalls, and access controls to protect sensitive meteorological data.
- Collaborate with IT and environmental science teams to integrate security into system architectures.
- Lead incident response efforts, including investigation, containment, and recovery from cyber incidents.
- Provide security awareness training for staff handling critical environmental data.
- Stay updated on emerging cyber threats and industry trends, particularly in IoT and environmental tech.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, CISM) are a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT security, with a focus on critical infrastructure or IoT systems.
- Proven expertise in network security, endpoint protection, and SIEM tools.
- Experience with risk assessment frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
- Strong knowledge of data encryption standards and secure communication protocols.
- Familiarity with environmental monitoring technologies or meteorological systems is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
