Responsibility
- Review and analyze patient medical records, including diagnostic reports and operative notes.
- Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and PCS codes to inpatient encounters.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations regarding medical billing and documentation.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve coding accuracy.
- Maintain high standards of productivity and quality metrics as established by organizational benchmarks.
- Stay current on updates regarding coding guidelines, regulatory changes, and healthcare reimbursement policies.
- Participate in regular audits and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Inpatient Medical Coder (hospital setting preferred).
- Active credentialing (CCS, CPC, or equivalent) is highly preferred; training provided for qualified candidates.
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM and PCS coding classification systems.
- Strong understanding of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) assignment.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret complex medical terminology.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of integrity.
- Ability to thrive in a remote or hybrid training environment.
