Responsibility
- Develop, maintain, and update the Hazardous Area Equipment Register (HAER) in accordance with industry standards (e.g., IEC, ATEX, NEC).
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of hazardous area equipment to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering, operations, and HSE teams to classify hazardous areas and document equipment specifications.
- Prepare and submit detailed reports on HAER status, non-compliance issues, and corrective actions.
- Provide technical guidance and training to staff on hazardous area equipment safety and best practices.
- Coordinate with third-party inspectors and certification bodies for equipment verification and certification.
- Implement and monitor procedures for the safe installation, maintenance, and decommissioning of hazardous area equipment.
- Stay updated with changes in local and international safety standards and ensure HAER alignment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in hazardous area classification, equipment management, or a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of hazardous area standards (e.g., IEC 60079, ATEX, API RP 500/505).
- Proven experience with HAER development, auditing, and compliance in industrial settings (oil & gas, petrochemical, or manufacturing preferred).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in MS Office, HAER software, and CAD tools is a plus.
- Certification in Hazardous Area Classification (e.g., CompEx, TÜV) is highly advantageous.
