Responsibility
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations (e.g., FDA, EMA, IATA, WCO) for lifescience shipments, including pharmaceuticals, biologics, and medical devices.
- Review and classify products according to global trade laws, including HS codes, export controls, and import restrictions.
- Collaborate with logistics teams, customs brokers, and freight forwarders to streamline cross-border shipments and resolve compliance issues.
- Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential compliance gaps and implement corrective actions.
- Prepare and submit accurate documentation for customs clearance, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Stay updated on evolving trade regulations, sanctions, and tariffs affecting the lifescience industry and adjust processes accordingly.
- Provide training and guidance to internal teams on trade compliance best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, and industry associations to ensure alignment with global trade standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Law, or a related field (Master’s degree or professional certification in trade compliance is a plus).
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in global trade compliance, preferably in the lifescience, pharmaceutical, or healthcare logistics sector.
- In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, including FDA, EMA, IATA, WCO, and country-specific import/export laws.
- Experience with HS code classification, export controls, and customs documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and apply them to logistics operations.
- Proficiency in trade compliance software (e.g., SAP GTS, Amber Road, Descartes) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across global teams.
- Certifications such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS), Certified Export Specialist (CES), or similar are highly desirable.
