Responsibility
- Develop and implement global commodity strategies for sheet metal and machining components to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Collaborate with suppliers, engineering teams, and procurement to drive continuous improvement in material selection, design, and manufacturing processes.
- Conduct technical evaluations of suppliers, including capability assessments, quality audits, and risk analyses.
- Lead cost-reduction initiatives through value engineering, alternative material sourcing, and process optimization.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, AS9100) and customer-specific requirements for all commodity-related activities.
- Support new product introductions (NPI) by providing DFM (Design for Manufacturability) feedback and prototyping guidance.
- Monitor market trends, emerging technologies, and supplier innovations to maintain Celestica’s competitive edge.
- Resolve technical issues related to sheet metal and machining components, working with internal and external stakeholders to implement corrective actions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in commodity engineering, manufacturing, or supplier management, with a focus on sheet metal and machining.
- Strong technical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, and precision engineering processes.
- Proven track record in cost reduction, supplier development, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills to engage with global teams and suppliers.
- Willingness to travel internationally as needed (up to 20%).
