Responsibility
- Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) on new or modified components to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards (e.g., AS9102, ISO 9001).
- Utilize precision measurement tools (e.g., CMM, calipers, micrometers, optical comparators) to verify dimensional accuracy and tolerances of manufactured parts.
- Document and report inspection results, including discrepancies, non-conformances, and corrective actions, using standardized FAI forms and digital systems.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to resolve inspection-related issues and implement process improvements.
- Ensure all inspection activities adhere to company quality policies, industry regulations, and customer requirements.
- Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to enhance inspection processes, reduce waste, and improve efficiency.
- Train and mentor junior technicians or production staff on FAI procedures and best practices.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Associate Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in FAI, quality inspection, or precision measurement within a manufacturing environment (aerospace, medical devices, or automotive preferred).
- Proficiency in using precision measurement tools such as CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine), calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and optical comparators.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and industry standards (e.g., AS9102, ISO 9001).
- Experience with FAI documentation and reporting, including familiarity with digital inspection systems or ERP software.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and specifications in English.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Certification in quality inspection (e.g., CQI, CQT) or FAI processes is a plus.
