As the on-site authority during your shift, you will lead a team of engineers, technicians, and vendors to maintain mission-critical infrastructure, respond to incidents with precision, and drive continuous improvement in efficiency and reliability. Responsibility
- Operational Leadership: Oversee daily data center operations, including power, cooling, security, and fire suppression systems, ensuring adherence to SLAs and internal policies.
- Incident Management: Serve as the primary responder for critical incidents, coordinating with cross-functional teams to minimize downtime and restore services swiftly.
- Team Supervision: Lead, mentor, and schedule shift-based engineering and maintenance teams, fostering a culture of accountability and technical excellence.
- Vendor Coordination: Manage third-party vendors for maintenance, repairs, and emergency services, ensuring compliance with contractual and safety standards.
- Compliance & Safety: Enforce strict adherence to OSHA, local regulations, and company safety protocols, conducting regular audits and training sessions.
- Performance Monitoring: Utilize BMS (Building Management Systems) and DCIM tools to track infrastructure health, identify risks, and optimize energy efficiency.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate logs of operational activities, incidents, and maintenance tasks, providing detailed reports to senior management.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance operational workflows, reduce costs, and implement best practices in data center management.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field. Advanced certifications (e.g., CDCP, Uptime Institute) are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 5+ years in data center operations, critical facilities management, or a similar high-availability environment, with 2+ years in a leadership role.
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of HVAC, UPS, generators, switchgear, fire suppression, and BMS systems. Familiarity with Tier III/IV data center standards.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage teams in a 24/7 shift environment, with strong conflict resolution and decision-making capabilities.
- Certifications: Valid electrical/mechanical licenses (where applicable), OSHA 30, or equivalent safety certifications.
- Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical skills to diagnose complex technical issues under pressure and implement effective solutions.
- Communication: Fluent English (written and verbal) with the ability to liaise with global stakeholders and produce clear technical documentation.
- Availability: Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needs.
