Responsibility
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel engines and heavy-duty trucks to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct routine maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections to prevent breakdowns and extend vehicle lifespan.
- Inspect, repair, and replace faulty components such as brakes, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
- Use diagnostic tools and software to identify issues and provide accurate reports on vehicle conditions.
- Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts replacements for compliance and tracking purposes.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of repairs and adherence to safety standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior mechanics and apprentices as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in diesel engine maintenance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role, with a focus on heavy trucks and engines.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, including fuel injection, turbochargers, and exhaust systems.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and specialized equipment for repairs and maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail to identify and resolve mechanical issues efficiently.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in challenging environments, including lifting heavy components and working in confined spaces.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and provide clear updates on repair progress.
- Certification or vocational training in diesel mechanics or a related field is a plus.
