The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is seeking a dynamic and tech-savvy Deputy/Assistant Director of Library Systems for a 1-year contract role based in Bali, Indonesia. Responsibility

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of next-generation digital library systems to enhance accessibility and usability.
  • Oversee the integration of AI-driven search and cataloging tools to improve information retrieval efficiency.
  • Collaborate with IT teams to ensure seamless system interoperability and data security compliance.
  • Develop and execute a digital preservation strategy for MAS’s archival collections, ensuring long-term accessibility.
  • Conduct user needs assessments and translate findings into actionable system improvements.
  • Manage vendor relationships for library software, databases, and e-resources, negotiating contracts and service-level agreements.
  • Train and mentor library staff on new technologies and best practices in digital librarianship.
  • Monitor emerging trends in library automation, open-access repositories, and metadata standards to keep MAS at the forefront of innovation.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field; a focus on digital libraries or technology is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in library systems management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in library management systems (e.g., Koha, Alma, Sierra) and discovery layers (e.g., Primo, Summon).
  • Strong knowledge of metadata standards (MARC, Dublin Core, RDA) and linked data principles.
  • Experience with API integrations, SQL, and basic scripting (Python, JavaScript) for system customization.
  • Familiarity with copyright laws, licensing agreements, and open-access policies in a financial or regulatory context.
  • Excellent project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote or hybrid environment with stakeholders across multiple locations.
