The Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) is seeking a highly skilled and analytical Deputy/Assistant Director to join our AML (Anti-Money Laundering) Supervision team on a 1-year contract basis. As Singapore’s central bank and integrated financial supervisor, we are committed to maintaining the integrity of our financial system. In this pivotal role, you will play a critical part in overseeing financial institutions to ensure robust AML/CFT (Combating the Financing of Terrorism) frameworks are implemented effectively.
You will work alongside industry experts to assess institutional risk profiles, conduct rigorous inspections, and influence policy development to combat illicit financial flows. Responsibility
- Lead and conduct off-site surveillance and on-site inspections of financial institutions to assess the adequacy of AML/CFT controls.
- Analyze complex transaction patterns and risk-assessment reports to identify potential vulnerabilities within financial services firms.
- Engage with senior management of regulated entities to provide guidance on regulatory expectations and necessary remedial actions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and law enforcement agencies to exchange intelligence and address high-risk thematic trends.
- Develop and refine supervisory policies based on emerging international standards and local regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of risk-mitigation plans following regulatory findings.
- Draft high-level reports and policy papers for senior management review.
Qualifications
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in AML/CFT compliance, risk management, or regulatory supervision within a financial institution or regulatory body.
- Deep understanding of the MAS AML/CFT Notice and Guidelines, as well as FATF recommendations.
- Proven ability to perform complex data analysis and synthesize findings into actionable insights.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in technical report writing.
- Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, or equivalent are highly preferred.
