Responsibility
- Assist the Chef de Partie in preparing and cooking dishes according to standardized recipes and special dietary requirements.
- Ensure all food items are prepared fresh, consistently, and in compliance with hygiene and safety standards.
- Monitor inventory levels of kitchen supplies and communicate restocking needs to the head chef.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace, adhering to HACCP and food safety regulations.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to develop seasonal menus and special promotions.
- Portion and plate dishes to meet presentation standards before service.
- Assist in training and guiding junior kitchen staff, including commi chefs and apprentices.
- Participate in daily mise en place preparation and end-of-service kitchen cleanup.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a hotel or fine-dining restaurant.
- Culinary diploma or certificate from a recognized institution (e.g., culinary school or apprenticeship).
- Strong knowledge of Malaysian cuisine, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
- Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
- Familiarity with HACCP, food safety, and sanitation practices.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy kitchen equipment (up to 20 kg).
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
