Responsibility
- Lead and supervise a team of data centre technicians during assigned shifts, ensuring adherence to operational protocols and safety standards.
- Monitor and maintain data centre infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, cooling systems, and power distribution units.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring high availability.
- Implement and enforce data centre policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain security, efficiency, and compliance.
- Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of data centre equipment to prevent failures and optimize performance.
- Manage incident response and escalation procedures, ensuring timely resolution of critical issues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of data centre operations, including incident reports, maintenance logs, and shift handovers.
- Collaborate with management to develop and implement strategies for improving data centre operations and reducing operational costs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data centre operations, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of data centre infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, networking, and cooling technologies.
- Experience with data centre management tools and monitoring systems (e.g., DCIM, Nagios, SolarWinds).
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Certifications such as CDCP (Certified Data Centre Professional), ITIL, or similar are highly desirable.
- Ability to work in a shift-based environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
