Responsibility
- Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of data center technicians, engineers, and support staff to ensure peak performance and operational efficiency.
- Infrastructure Oversight: Oversee the day-to-day operations of Google’s data center facilities, including hardware, cooling systems, power distribution, and network connectivity.
- Compliance & Security: Ensure adherence to global security standards, industry regulations, and Google’s internal policies for data protection and physical security.
- Incident Management: Lead rapid response to critical incidents, minimizing downtime and coordinating with global teams for resolution.
- Capacity Planning: Forecast and plan for scalability needs, collaborating with procurement and engineering teams to deploy new infrastructure.
- Vendor & Stakeholder Coordination: Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Process Optimization: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve reliability.
- Reporting & Metrics: Develop and present KPIs, performance reports, and operational metrics to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree: In Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degrees preferred.
- Proven Experience: 8+ years in data center operations, IT infrastructure management, or a similar leadership role.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of data center architectures, including servers, storage, networking, and cooling systems.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a 24/7 operational environment.
- Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., CDCP, ITIL, PMP, or vendor-specific credentials) are a plus.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a track record of resolving complex technical issues.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across global teams.
- Adaptability: Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a focus on continuous improvement.
