Responsibility

  • Prepare and verify customs documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading, to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Classify goods according to the Harmonized System (HS) code and determine applicable duties, taxes, and trade preferences.
  • Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to facilitate smooth clearance of shipments.
  • Monitor and track shipment statuses, resolving any delays or discrepancies in customs processing.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations, import/export laws, and trade agreements affecting international shipments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure all necessary permits, licenses, and certifications are obtained prior to shipment.
  • Generate reports on customs activities, including duty payments, clearance times, and compliance metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize customs processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency in supply chain operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Customs Specialist) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in customs processing, trade compliance, or a similar role within the logistics industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of customs regulations, tariff classifications, and international trade laws (e.g., ASEAN Trade in Goods Agreement, WTO rules).
  • Proficiency in using customs software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact with customs authorities, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple shipments and deadlines simultaneously.
