As a CMM Program Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing, optimizing, and executing Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) programs to ensure the highest standards of accuracy and compliance with aerospace specifications. Responsibility
- Develop, write, and optimize CMM programs using industry-standard software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) for complex aerospace components.
- Perform first-article inspections (FAI) and in-process quality checks to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to resolve dimensional discrepancies and improve part tolerances.
- Maintain and calibrate CMM equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to ISO 17025 or AS9100 standards.
- Generate detailed inspection reports and documentation for internal and customer audits.
- Train and mentor junior technicians on CMM programming best practices and quality control procedures.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance measurement efficiency and reduce cycle times.
- Stay updated with advancements in metrology technologies and recommend upgrades to equipment or software as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in CMM programming, preferably in the aerospace or precision machining industry.
- Proficiency in CMM software (PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent) and CAD systems (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA).
- Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and ASME Y14.5 standards.
- Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, or NADCAP quality systems is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail in high-precision environments.
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
