Responsibility
- Assist the Head Chef in preparing and cooking authentic Chinese dishes according to traditional recipes.
- Chop, slice, and marinate ingredients to ensure they are ready for cooking.
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to food safety and hygiene standards.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify the kitchen manager of low stock or supply needs.
- Follow standardized recipes and portion controls to minimize waste and ensure consistency.
- Assist in plating dishes and ensuring they meet presentation standards before serving.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including woks, steamers, and knives.
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely preparation and service during peak hours.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Kitchen Helper, Assistant Cook, or in a similar role, preferably in a Chinese restaurant.
- Basic knowledge of Chinese cooking techniques, ingredients, and flavor profiles.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in food preparation and presentation.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with kitchen staff.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy kitchen supplies (up to 20 kg).
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in kitchen hygiene.
