Responsibility
- Prepare, inspect, and assemble surgical instruments and equipment for sterilization according to established protocols.
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment (e.g., autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners) to ensure proper function and compliance with safety standards.
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize reusable medical devices and supplies using approved chemical solutions and techniques.
- Monitor and document sterilization processes, including temperature, pressure, and exposure time, to guarantee effectiveness.
- Organize and distribute sterile supplies to operating rooms and other departments as requested.
- Maintain inventory of sterile supplies and equipment, reporting shortages or damaged items to supervisors.
- Adhere to strict infection control policies, including proper handling, storage, and disposal of biohazardous materials.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments and equipment for procedures.
Qualifications
- Minimum Diploma (D3) in Nursing, Public Health, or a related field; Bachelor’s degree is a plus.
- Certification in Central Sterile Supply Processing (CSSD) or Sterilization Techniques is highly preferred.
- Proven experience (1-2 years) in a hospital, clinic, or CSSD department, preferably in an Operating Theater setting.
- Strong knowledge of sterilization methods, infection control practices, and medical terminology.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity for handling delicate surgical instruments.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift/move equipment (up to 20 kg).
