Join the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as an Adaptation Solutions Specialist (Transport) and drive transformative change in climate-resilient infrastructure across Asia and the Pacific. Responsibility
- Lead the design and implementation of climate-resilient transport projects, including roads, railways, and urban mobility systems, ensuring alignment with ADB’s climate adaptation strategies.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and risk analyses for transport infrastructure, identifying climate-related threats and proposing mitigation measures.
- Develop technical guidelines, toolkits, and best practices for integrating climate adaptation into transport sector investments and policies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide expert advice on climate-proofing transport assets, including the use of nature-based solutions and low-carbon technologies.
- Engage with government agencies, donors, and stakeholders to advocate for climate-resilient transport planning and secure funding for priority projects.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of adaptation projects, ensuring compliance with ADB standards and international climate commitments.
- Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and policy briefs to communicate project impacts and recommendations to senior management and external partners.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in climate science, transport engineering, and sustainable development to inform ADB’s strategic direction.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Transport Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Climate Change, or a related field. A PhD is a plus.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in transport sector planning, climate adaptation, or sustainable infrastructure development, preferably in Asia and the Pacific.
- Proven track record in designing or managing climate-resilient transport projects, with experience in international development or multilateral organizations.
- Strong knowledge of climate risk assessment methodologies, including the use of GIS, hydrological modeling, and vulnerability mapping tools.
- Excellent analytical, report-writing, and presentation skills, with the ability to synthesize complex technical information for diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with ADB’s policies, procedures, and safeguards, or experience working with other international financial institutions (IFIs).
- Demonstrated ability to build partnerships with governments, NGOs, and private sector entities to advance climate adaptation agendas.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of other Asian languages is an advantage.
