As a 2nd Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our reefer vessels, maintaining refrigeration systems, and supporting the Chief Engineer in all technical and operational matters. Responsibility
- Assist the Chief Engineer in the operation, maintenance, and repair of the vessel's refrigeration systems and auxiliary machinery.
- Monitor and maintain the vessel's engine room equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all mechanical and electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to refrigeration units, compressors, and cooling systems.
- Maintain accurate logs and records of engine room operations, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with international maritime regulations, including SOLAS, MARPOL, and ISM codes.
- Assist in emergency drills and safety procedures, including firefighting and damage control.
- Collaborate with the deck department to ensure seamless operations and cargo handling.
Qualifications
- Valid STCW certification as a Marine Engineer Officer (2nd Engineer or equivalent).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a 2nd Engineer on reefer vessels or similar ships.
- Strong knowledge of refrigeration systems, diesel engines, and auxiliary machinery.
- Familiarity with international maritime regulations and safety standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team.
- Physical fitness and the ability to perform duties in challenging maritime conditions.
- Willingness to travel and work on a rotational basis as required.
