As a Senior System Engineer, you will design, deploy, and maintain secure, high-availability Linux-based systems that power critical HPC workloads. Responsibility
- Design, implement, and optimize Linux-based HPC systems for maximum performance and reliability.
- Manage and maintain cluster computing environments, including job schedulers (e.g., Slurm, PBS).
- Ensure high availability and fault tolerance of critical systems through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Develop and enforce security best practices, including hardening, patch management, and access controls.
- Automate system administration tasks using scripting (Bash, Python) and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate HPC solutions with research workflows.
- Document system architectures, configurations, and operational procedures.
- Stay current with emerging technologies in HPC, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Linux System Administrator/Engineer in HPC or enterprise environments.
- Expertise in Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and HPC tools (MPI, OpenMP, GPU computing).
- Strong knowledge of networking, storage systems (e.g., Lustre, GPFS), and virtualization.
- Experience with security hardening, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Proficiency in scripting (Python, Bash) and automation tools (Ansible, Terraform).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, research-driven environment.
