job description

The Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) is seeking a visionary and highly motivated Scientist or Senior Scientist to join the Nucleic Acid Therapeutics Initiative (NATi). In this role, you will be at the forefront of medical innovation, leading high-stakes research into RNA therapy and vaccine development specifically targeted at infectious diseases. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a national-level strategic initiative designed to position Singapore as a global leader in nucleic acid medicine.

As a key member of our research team, you will drive the design and evaluation of novel RNA-based platforms, bridging the gap between fundamental laboratory discovery and clinical translation. You will operate within a world-class research environment, utilizing state-of-the-art facilities and collaborating with a multidisciplinary cohort of experts in immunology, bioinformatics, and process development. Your work will directly impact how the world responds to emerging viral threats and chronic infectious challenges.

We are looking for candidates who combine deep technical expertise in molecular biology with a strategic mindset. Whether you are an ambitious post-doctoral researcher or an established industry professional, A*STAR offers a dynamic ecosystem where your research can achieve its full potential. Join us in shaping the future of medicine and improving global health outcomes through cutting-edge science.

  • Lead and manage R&D projects focused on the design and optimization of RNA-based vaccines and therapeutics for infectious diseases.
  • Design and execute robust in vitro and in vivo experiments to evaluate the immunogenicity, efficacy, and safety profiles of therapeutic candidates.
  • Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop and refine advanced delivery systems, including Lipid Nanoparticles (LNPs).
  • Analyze complex datasets and translate findings into actionable insights for the NATi program leadership.
  • Prepare and present high-quality technical reports, scientific publications, and patent applications.
  • Mentor and supervise junior scientists and research associates, ensuring scientific excellence and project progress.
  • Maintain awareness of the global competitive landscape and emerging trends in RNA technology and infectious disease research.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Virology, Immunology, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline.
  • 3-5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience for the Scientist level; 7+ years of experience for the Senior Scientist level.
  • Demonstrated expertise in RNA synthesis, molecular cloning, and assay development (ELISA, qPCR, flow cytometry).
  • Proven track record of research excellence as evidenced by publications in high-impact peer-reviewed journals.
  • Strong experience in infectious disease modeling and vaccine development workflows.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams under tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, for presenting scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
