Responsibility
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for Australian clients, ensuring compliance with Australian accounting standards (e.g., AASB, ATO regulations).
- Process and reconcile accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, payments, and expense tracking.
- Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) in accordance with ATO deadlines.
- Assist with payroll processing, including calculating wages, superannuation, and tax withholdings for Australian employees.
- Generate financial reports, such as profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for client review.
- Liaise with clients, accountants, and tax agents to ensure smooth financial operations and address any discrepancies.
- Utilize accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks) to manage financial data efficiently and securely.
- Stay updated on changes in Australian tax laws and accounting regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably with Australian clients or in an Australian accounting environment.
- Strong knowledge of Australian accounting standards, tax regulations (e.g., GST, PAYG), and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize tasks in a remote work setting.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with clients and team members effectively.
- Certification or formal qualification in bookkeeping, accounting, or a related field (e.g., Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, Diploma of Accounting) is highly desirable.
- Experience with payroll processing and BAS/IAS lodgement is a plus.
