Responsibility
- Perform mechanical testing procedures, including tensile, hardness, and Charpy/V-notch impact tests, in accordance with ASTM, ISO, and other relevant standards.
- Prepare and inspect test specimens, ensuring proper dimensions, surface finish, and conditioning.
- Operate and calibrate testing equipment, such as universal testing machines (UTM), hardness testers, and impact testers.
- Document test results accurately and generate comprehensive reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify defects, inconsistencies, or non-conformities in materials and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to troubleshoot material performance issues.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Stay updated on industry standards, testing methodologies, and advancements in material science.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical testing, quality control, or a similar role in manufacturing or inspection industries.
- Hands-on experience with tensile testing machines, Rockwell/Brinnell/Vickers hardness testers, and impact testing equipment.
- Strong understanding of ASTM, ISO, ASME, and other international testing standards.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and data analysis tools.
- Good communication skills in English (written and verbal) for reporting and team collaboration.
- Certification in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) or quality assurance (e.g., ASNT, ISO 9001) is a plus.
