Responsibility
- Lead and mentor a team of estimators, ensuring accurate and timely cost estimates for construction, modular cabinetry, fit-out, and custom manufacturing projects.
- Develop and refine estimation methodologies, tools, and templates to improve efficiency and precision.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project scopes, specifications, and requirements.
- Conduct thorough takeoffs from blueprints, drawings, and digital models (BIM, CAD) to quantify materials, labor, and overhead costs.
- Prepare and present detailed cost breakdowns, proposals, and bids to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with budgetary constraints.
- Monitor industry trends, material costs, and labor rates to maintain competitive and realistic pricing strategies.
- Review and validate estimates from team members, providing constructive feedback and ensuring compliance with company standards.
- Streamline estimation workflows by leveraging software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, or custom ERP tools) and automation where applicable.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in estimation, with at least 2 years in a leadership role within construction, fit-out, or manufacturing sectors.
- Proficient in estimation software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, RSMeans) and Microsoft Excel (advanced functions, pivot tables).
- Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and cost structures, including modular systems and custom fabrication.
- Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to liaise with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings accurately.
- Experience with BIM (Building Information Modeling) or CAD software is a plus.
