As a Joinery Design Detailer, you will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and production teams to develop highly accurate CAD shop drawings for custom millwork, ensuring seamless coordination between design intent and production feasibility. Responsibility
- Develop detailed CAD shop drawings for custom millwork, including cabinetry, furniture, and architectural woodwork, ensuring accuracy and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with architects, designers, and engineers to interpret design intent and translate it into precise technical drawings.
- Review and validate drawings for compliance with industry standards, project specifications, and manufacturing constraints.
- Coordinate with production teams to optimize material usage, reduce waste, and improve assembly efficiency.
- Prepare cut lists, material takeoffs, and assembly instructions to support seamless fabrication and installation.
- Identify and resolve design conflicts or inconsistencies before they impact production timelines.
- Stay updated with latest CAD software tools and joinery techniques to enhance productivity and innovation.
- Maintain organized digital archives of drawings and revisions for easy retrieval and future reference.
Qualifications
- Proven experience (3+ years) as a Joinery Design Detailer, CAD Drafter, or similar role in millwork, carpentry, or furniture manufacturing.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, or Revit) with a focus on woodworking and joinery detailing.
- Strong understanding of wood materials, joinery techniques, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and 3D models with precision.
- Excellent attention to detail and spatial reasoning to ensure error-free designs.
- Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., AWI, ANSI) for millwork and cabinetry.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills to liaise effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Portfolio showcasing previous joinery or millwork projects is a significant advantage.
