Responsibility
- Provide accurate and real-time interpretation (Japanese ↔ Indonesian/English) during meetings, training sessions, and technical discussions.
- Translate technical documents, reports, and manuals related to R&D, manufacturing processes, and product development.
- Assist in drafting and reviewing bilingual correspondence, including emails, presentations, and official communications.
- Facilitate communication between Japanese expatriates and local staff to ensure alignment on project goals and operational procedures.
- Support the R&D team in documenting experimental results, patents, and compliance materials in both languages.
- Act as a cultural liaison to promote mutual understanding and resolve potential misunderstandings in a professional manner.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in all translated materials, adhering to company and industry standards.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to onboard new Japanese employees and provide language support as needed.
Qualifications
- Fluency in Japanese (N2/N1 level) and Indonesian (native or near-native); proficiency in English is a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation, International Relations, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience as an interpreter or translator, preferably in a manufacturing, R&D, or technical environment.
- Strong understanding of technical terminology in manufacturing, engineering, or research and development.
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Familiarity with CAT tools (e.g., Trados, memoQ) or translation software is advantageous.
- Willingness to relocate to Bali and adapt to a multicultural work environment.
