As a Maintenance Assistant, you will perform a variety of tasks including general repairs, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting to keep our hostel in top condition. Responsibility
- Perform daily inspections of hostel facilities, including common areas, guest rooms, and outdoor spaces, to identify maintenance needs.
- Conduct general repairs such as fixing plumbing issues, replacing light fixtures, and patching walls.
- Maintain and service HVAC systems, electrical systems, and appliances to ensure optimal performance.
- Assist in preventive maintenance tasks, including cleaning gutters, checking fire safety equipment, and lubricating moving parts.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and staff, prioritizing urgent issues.
- Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs or installations when necessary.
- Keep an inventory of maintenance supplies and tools, and request restocking as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all maintenance activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in general maintenance, repair work, or a related field (preferably in hospitality or hostel environments).
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and HVAC maintenance.
- Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Physical fitness and the ability to lift heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform tasks in confined spaces.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Good communication skills in English to interact with guests and team members.
- Flexibility to work on-call or outside regular hours for emergency repairs.
