Responsibility
- Lead and mentor a team of EMPI Data Integrity Specialists to investigate, resolve, and prevent duplicate, overlay, and mismatch patient records.
- Develop and implement data integrity policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with healthcare standards (e.g., HIPAA, HL7).
- Collaborate with IT, clinical, and administrative teams to identify and address systemic data issues affecting patient identity management.
- Monitor and analyze EMPI system performance, generating reports and insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring data integrity issues and propose sustainable solutions.
- Train and onboard new team members, ensuring they are proficient in EMPI tools, data matching algorithms, and healthcare data standards.
- Oversee data cleansing initiatives to maintain a clean, accurate, and up-to-date Master Patient Index.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for escalated data integrity issues and provide timely resolutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelorâs degree in Health Information Management, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. Masterâs degree is a plus.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in EMPI, data integrity, or healthcare data management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of EMPI systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech) and data matching algorithms.
- Strong understanding of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, IHE) and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, GDPR).
- Proven ability to analyze complex datasets, identify trends, and implement data-driven solutions.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience with SQL, data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI), or ETL processes is highly desirable.
- Certifications such as RHIA, RHIT, or Epic EMPI are a significant advantage.
