In this role, you will oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of electrical, mechanical, and cooling systems that power our world-class data centers. Your expertise will directly contribute to maintaining 99.999% uptime for our clients, including Fortune 500 companies and cloud service providers. Responsibility
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize critical data center infrastructure, including electrical switchgear, UPS systems, generators, HVAC, and cooling systems to ensure 24/7 operational reliability.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on A0/A1 electrical systems, adhering to local regulations and Equinix’s global standards.
- Conduct regular inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of power distribution systems, transformers, and backup power solutions to prevent downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement energy-efficient solutions and reduce PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) in alignment with sustainability goals.
- Manage vendor relationships for equipment servicing, repairs, and emergency response, ensuring compliance with SLAs and safety protocols.
- Document all maintenance activities, incidents, and resolutions in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) for audit and compliance purposes.
- Lead or participate in root cause analysis (RCA) for critical failures and implement corrective actions to enhance system resilience.
- Stay updated with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and local electrical codes to drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. A0/A1 Chargeman certification is mandatory.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in critical facilities maintenance, preferably in data centers, telecom, or industrial environments.
- In-depth knowledge of high/low voltage systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, and HVAC with hands-on troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with BMS (Building Management Systems), SCADA, and DCIM (Data Center Infrastructure Management) tools.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols, including LOTO (Lockout-Tagout), arc flash safety, and NFPA 70E standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment.
- Proficient in English (written and verbal) with strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Willingness to work in shift rotations (including nights, weekends, and holidays) and respond to on-call emergencies.
