As a CSSD (Central Sterile Services Department) Technician, you will be responsible for the decontamination, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment. Responsibility
- Operate and maintain sterilization equipment (autoclaves, ultrasonic cleaners, etc.) to ensure proper functioning and compliance with safety standards.
- Perform thorough decontamination, cleaning, and inspection of reusable medical instruments and devices.
- Package and prepare sterilized instruments for distribution to operating rooms, clinics, and other hospital departments.
- Monitor and document sterilization processes, including temperature, pressure, and cycle times, to ensure adherence to protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of sterilization activities, inventory of supplies, and equipment maintenance logs.
- Collaborate with surgical and clinical teams to ensure timely availability of sterilized instruments and equipment.
- Follow strict infection control and biosafety guidelines to prevent cross-contamination and ensure patient safety.
- Participate in training and continuous education programs to stay updated on best practices in CSSD operations.
Qualifications
- Minimum Diploma (D3) in a health-related field (e.g., Nursing, Medical Technology, or equivalent).
- At least 2 years of experience in a CSSD unit or similar sterilization role in a hospital or healthcare facility.
- Possession of a basic CSSD certification (e.g., from a recognized healthcare training institution).
- In-depth understanding of sterilization processes, including steam, ethylene oxide, and other methods.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and the ability to identify various surgical instruments.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with multiple departments.
