Responsibility

  • Assist the head pastry chef in preparing and baking a variety of pastries, desserts, and bread, ensuring consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.
  • Follow and maintain strict hygiene and food safety standards in compliance with local regulations and Pastry Mart’s policies.
  • Collaborate with the team to develop and test new recipes, incorporating seasonal and local ingredients to create innovative menu items.
  • Manage inventory of ingredients, order supplies as needed, and minimize waste through efficient portion control and storage practices.
  • Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, including mixers, ovens, and refrigeration units, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition.
  • Assist in plating and presenting desserts to meet the high aesthetic standards of Pastry Mart’s brand.
  • Support kitchen staff during peak hours, ensuring smooth operations and timely delivery of orders.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen assistants to uphold Pastry Mart’s quality and service standards.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a pastry kitchen or bakery, with a strong foundation in baking techniques and dessert preparation.
  • Basic knowledge of pastry tools, equipment, and ingredients, including familiarity with different types of flour, chocolate, and dairy products.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and precision in measurements and techniques.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to take direction and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Creativity and a passion for experimenting with flavors, textures, and presentation styles.
  • Familiarity with food safety and hygiene practices, including HACCP or similar certification (preferred but not required).
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods, lift heavy trays, and work in a hot kitchen environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
