Responsibility
- Assist in the planning, execution, and supervision of mechanical repairs and maintenance for ships and marine vessels.
- Support Heavy Gang operations, including structural repairs, machinery overhauls, and equipment installations.
- Conduct inspections and troubleshoot mechanical systems to identify defects or areas requiring repair.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and technicians to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and work orders for repair activities.
- Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and equipment used in ship repair processes.
- Assist in the coordination of subcontractors and external vendors for specialized repair tasks.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with industry regulations and company policies.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in ship repair, heavy machinery maintenance, or shipyard operations (Heavy Gang experience is a plus).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and structural repairs in marine environments.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and repair manuals.
- Hands-on experience with tools and equipment used in ship repair, such as welding machines, cranes, and diagnostic tools.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations in shipyard operations (e.g., OSHA, SOLAS, or local maritime standards).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
