Responsibility
- Process and verify invoices, expense reports, and payment requests in compliance with company policies and Japanese tax regulations.
- Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal teams.
- Prepare and submit withholding tax reports (JCT) and other financial documentation as required.
- Communicate effectively with Japanese-speaking vendors and stakeholders to clarify payment terms and resolve inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate payments.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains in accounts payable operations.
Qualifications
- Business fluency in Japanese (JLPT N1/N2 preferred; strong N3 considered) with excellent reading, writing, and speaking skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting roles.
- Familiarity with Japanese Consumption Tax (JCT) and withholding tax rules.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with global teams.
