We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Tax Accountant to join our growing team in Bali, Indonesia (remote-friendly for the right candidate).
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring our Australian clients meet their tax obligations accurately and on time. You’ll work closely with a diverse portfolio of businesses, from startups to established enterprises, providing expert advice on tax planning, lodgment, and compliance under Australian tax laws (ATO). Responsibility
- Prepare and lodge Australian tax returns (individual, company, trust, and SMSF) in compliance with ATO regulations.
- Manage BAS (Business Activity Statements) and GST reporting for clients on a monthly/quarterly basis.
- Provide strategic tax planning and advisory services to minimize liabilities and optimize financial outcomes.
- Reconcile accounts, ensure accuracy in financial records, and resolve discrepancies for Australian clients.
- Stay updated on changes in Australian tax laws and communicate relevant updates to clients and the team.
- Collaborate with bookkeepers and financial advisors to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
- Assist with payroll tax, fringe benefits tax (FBT), and capital gains tax (CGT) calculations and reporting.
- Maintain confidential client data with the highest standards of integrity and security.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CA qualification is a plus).
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in tax accounting, preferably with Australian clients or ATO compliance.
- Proficiency in Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of Australian tax legislation, including income tax, GST, and superannuation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (fluent English required).
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple client accounts efficiently.
- Experience with cloud-based accounting software and digital collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Trello).
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering error-free, high-quality work.
