Responsibility
- Perform precision splicing, termination, and testing of submarine fiber optic cables using industry-standard tools and techniques.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of underwater cable systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Troubleshoot and repair faults in fiber optic cables, minimizing downtime and restoring service efficiently.
- Collaborate with marine operations teams to deploy, recover, and secure cables in offshore environments.
- Document all splicing activities, test results, and maintenance logs in compliance with company and industry standards.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and environmental regulations during all field operations.
- Assist in the planning and execution of cable laying and repair projects, including route surveys and risk assessments.
- Stay updated with advancements in fiber optic technology and splicing methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Fiber Optic Cable Splicer, preferably with submarine or marine cable systems.
- Certification in Fiber Optic Splicing (e.g., FOA CFOT, BICSI) or equivalent technical training.
- Proven expertise in using fusion splicers, OTDRs, power meters, and other diagnostic tools.
- Strong understanding of fiber optic cable construction, signal transmission, and loss budgets.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including offshore vessels or remote locations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail for high-precision tasks.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills (e.g., Indonesian) are a plus.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including emergency call-outs for cable repairs.
