Responsibility
- Lead the structural design and analysis of topside modules, decks, and support structures for FPSO/FLNG units using industry-standard software (e.g., SACS, STAAD.Pro, ABAQUS).
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and hand calculations to validate structural integrity under static, dynamic, and environmental loads.
- Develop and review design drawings, specifications, and technical reports in compliance with classification society rules and project requirements.
- Collaborate with naval architects, process engineers, and fabrication teams to optimize topside layout, weight distribution, and constructability.
- Conduct fatigue and fracture mechanics assessments to ensure long-term durability in harsh offshore conditions.
- Support HAZID/HAZOP studies and risk assessments to mitigate structural safety hazards.
- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and draftsmen, ensuring adherence to best practices and project deadlines.
- Participate in client meetings, design reviews, and site inspections to resolve technical queries and ensure seamless project execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering (or related field) from an accredited institution.
- 8+ years of experience in topside structural engineering for offshore oil & gas or renewable energy projects (FPSO/FLNG preferred).
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (SACS, STAAD.Pro, ANSYS, or equivalent) and CAD tools (AutoCAD, Tekla).
- In-depth knowledge of offshore design codes (DNV-RP-C201, ABS, API RP 2A, ISO 19900 series).
- Strong understanding of load analysis (wave, wind, seismic) and hydrodynamic interactions for floating structures.
- Experience with 3D modeling, clash detection, and interdisciplinary coordination in large-scale projects.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in multicultural, fast-paced environments.
- PE or Chartered Engineer certification (or equivalent) is a plus.
