Note: This is a fully remote position with a preference for candidates based in Bali, Indonesia. Occasional travel to Kuala Lumpur may be required for team meetups.
Responsibility
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices
- Optimize database performance (SQL/NoSQL) and ensure data integrity for payment processing systems
- Implement RESTful APIs and integrate third-party payment gateways
- Collaborate with frontend developers to define API contracts and ensure seamless integration
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following best practices
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex technical issues in production environments
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and agile ceremonies (sprints, standups)
- Stay updated with emerging technologies and propose improvements to existing systems
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Java backend development, with expertise in Spring Boot, Hibernate, and microservices
- Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, OAuth 2.0, and security best practices
- Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis)
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, AWS (EC2, RDS, S3), and CI/CD pipelines
- Proficiency in unit testing (JUnit, Mockito) and integration testing
- Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ) and event-driven architectures is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in an agile environment
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
