Responsibility
- Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the R&D roadmap for Thermo Fisher’s Asia-Pacific operations, aligning with global business objectives and regional market needs.
- Team Development: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing R&D team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
- Platform Innovation: Spearhead the development of scalable, high-impact platforms and technologies that address unmet needs in life sciences and healthcare.
- Partnerships & Alliances: Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with academic institutions, startups, and industry leaders to accelerate R&D initiatives.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management, manufacturing, and commercial teams to ensure seamless transition from concept to commercialization.
- Budget & Resource Management: Oversee R&D budgets, allocate resources effectively, and ensure ROI on innovation investments.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all R&D activities adhere to global regulatory standards (e.g., FDA, ISO) and internal quality systems.
- Thought Leadership: Represent Thermo Fisher at industry conferences, publish whitepapers, and position the company as a leader in scientific innovation.
Qualifications
- Education: PhD or Master’s degree in Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field. MBA or business acumen is a plus.
- Experience: 12+ years in R&D leadership within life sciences, medical devices, or diagnostics, with at least 5 years in a senior director/VP-level role.
- Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of product development lifecycles, design controls, and validation processes (e.g., ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 820).
- Leadership: Proven track record of building and scaling high-performing R&D teams in a global, matrixed organization.
- Strategic Vision: Ability to translate market trends and customer insights into actionable R&D strategies.
- Business Acumen: Strong financial literacy, P&L management, and experience driving profitability through innovation.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills to influence stakeholders at all levels, including C-suite executives.
- Adaptability: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with a focus on agile methodologies.
