Responsibility
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for Australian clients in compliance with AU accounting standards (e.g., AASB, GST, BAS).
- Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and reconciliations.
- Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS) for AU clients.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card transactions, and general ledger accounts monthly.
- Generate financial reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Collaborate with clients to provide financial insights, identify discrepancies, and recommend process improvements.
- Ensure compliance with Australian tax laws and deadlines, including payroll tax and superannuation obligations.
- Assist with year-end financial preparations and liaise with external accountants or auditors as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping experience, with at least 2 years specializing in Australian clients or AU accounting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks Online (Xero experience highly preferred).
- Strong understanding of Australian tax regulations, including GST, BAS, and payroll tax.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines efficiently.
- Experience with payroll processing and superannuation compliance for Australian businesses.
- Fluency in English (written and verbal) with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.
- Certification or diploma in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field (e.g., Certificate IV in Bookkeeping, BAS Agent registration).
