Responsibility
- Evaluate commercial insurance applications and determine appropriate coverage terms.
- Analyze financial statements, risk exposures, and industry trends to assess underwriting risks.
- Collaborate with brokers, agents, and clients to gather necessary information for underwriting decisions.
- Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines and procedures in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Negotiate policy terms and premiums with clients and brokers to ensure competitive and profitable outcomes.
- Monitor and review existing policies to identify potential risks and recommend adjustments.
- Prepare detailed underwriting reports and present findings to senior management.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions affecting commercial insurance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial underwriting or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, including property, liability, and casualty coverage.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in using underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CPCU, AU) are a plus.
